Trails on the Hartkaiser
Many trails lead to Ellmi's Zauberwelt. You can find some of them here:
The Hartkaiser also has some attractions for adults. Many of the circuit routes are called Panorama Trails for good reason. They present nature in all her glory and impress with breathtaking views. Not only soul but also body is well served. The peak restaurant Bergkaiser alone with its sunny terrace at 1,520 m is worth a trip.
Rübezahl Trail - ca. 1 h
Unique and the longest hiking trail in Austria with carved figures, more than 22 of them. (Top station Hartkaiserbahn - Jägerhütte - Rübezahlalm – middle station Hartkaiserbahn)
Almweg - ca. 40 min.
On our new trail along alpine meadows you will find stations to experience from healing to ancient wisdom, forgotten rituals, old customs and superstitions. (More than 15 stations)
This hike brings you directly to Ellmi's Zauberwelt. From Ellmau you walk in the direction of the bottom station of the Hartkaiserbahn funicular and then take the first trail upwards to the Faistenbichl. From the mountain hut a forester's trail leads in the direction of the Rübezahl Alm and the Jägerhütte. One last climb upwards and you can recover on the viewing terrace of the Bergkaiser Restaurant. After a trip through Ellmi's magical world the Rübezahl adventure trail brings you back down to the valley.
Panorama Trail from Hartkaiser in Ellmau to the Hexenwasser on the Söll
This interesting hike starts in Ellmau with the Hartkaiser funicular. From the top station the trail leads through the colourful flora of Ellmi's magical world. It continues over the panorama trail to the "KaiserWelt" on the Brandstadl in Scheffau. In the play kingdom at 1,650 m the Kaiser has many tasks and is waiting for help from his princes and princesses. In the Kaiserwald forest there are castle walls, a climbing wall and a lot of playground equipment to be explored. When you continue on the trail you come first of all to the lake Filzalmsee and then to the "Hexenwasser" on the Hochsöll. In this adventure area dammed pools, climbing ponds, mud holes, a Kneipp pool and the longest barefoot path in Austria provide all kinds of fun. You can get back down to the valley with the Bergbahn Söll gondola. From there the hiker's and swimmer's bus "Kaiser Jet" brings you back to Ellmau.
Panorama Trail Hartkaiser - Brandstadl
From the bottom station of the Hartkaiserbahn funicular in Ellmau you ride up to the Hochkaiser at 1,550 m. Up here you have a 360 degree panorama view of the Wilden Kaiser, of the valley region of the Wilder Kaiser as well as of the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge, the Hohen Tauern and the Zillertaler Alps. The easy hike goes along the panorama trail in the direction of Tanzboden and Brandstadl. After gathering strength at the cosy Tanzbodenalm or in the mountain restaurant Brandstadl you continue over a wide gravel road to the top station of the Hartkaiserbahn. Here you can ride back down to the valley in the funicular or you hike back past the Jägerhütte and the Rübezahlalm back to Ellmau.
